Flatweave Rugs
A flatweave rug is handwoven on a loom, the vertical yarns (warps) are woven through the horizontal yarns (wefts). They are versatile, hardwearing and, with their simple construction and low profile, flatweave rugs are resistant to heavy foot traffic and are easily cleaned. In the world of interiors, flatweave rugs are the effortless cool kids that will instantly lift any room.
Holmes Bespoke has worked with some of the best designers in the business to create bespoke flatweave rugs for interiors all over the world. Due to their durability Flatweaves work really well for hotels as well as private residences. We’ve collaborated with design studios such as Howark Design to create the Line-Up collection and are currently working on a collaboration with Barlow & Barlow due to launch very soon! When thinking about your own project, Holmes Bespoke have a huge library of samples to choose from and customise to suit your space.
Rugs are key in creating a full and interesting space, and like all rugs, flatweaves help your floors feel warmer in winters and cooler during the summer. Flatweaves can be handmade in a wide variety of fibres such as wool, jute, linen or P.E.T. and the designs are limitless. Changing the height of the pile or using multiple fibres can create unique and tactile effects.
Flatweaves come under many different names including Kelims, Kilims, Dhurie, Navajo and Soumak and differ only slightly in their craft. Flatweave rugs are lightweight and have a lower, often reversible pile. Needing a rug that changes with the season? Flatweaves are considered one of the lighter rugs and are easily rolled up or folded away.
Flatweaves are unique in that they are inherently, and obviously, flat…they are perfect for the busy home or high traffic area. What sets Holmes Bespoke apart, is that every aspect of each of our rugs can be entirely customised; choose from thousands of combinations of colour, texture and fibres. Our rugs can be redesigned into different sizes, scales or shapes and can be fitted as wall-to-wall carpet or as a stair runner by our specialist team. The possibilities are endless - get in touch or browse our shop!
